South African artist iSandi returns with “Joina,” a deeply intentional new release created in collaboration with RADA Unearthed — the music arm of RADA. Rooted in purpose as much as sound, the track arrives as both a call for unity and a reflection on collective responsibility.
At its core, “Joina” moves beyond traditional songwriting. It operates as a message — one that addresses substance addiction with honesty while offering space for healing to those affected by abuse. There is a quiet strength in its delivery, grounded in themes of resilience, restoration, and compassion.
Rather than isolating struggle, the song widens its lens. It asks listeners to consider the role of community — how care, awareness, and action can shape a more supportive and conscious society.
This ethos sits at the heart of RADA Unearthed, a platform dedicated to using music as a force for good, with royalties supporting community-driven initiatives. Within this context, “Joina” becomes part of a larger movement — one that positions creativity as a tool for impact.
For iSandi, the collaboration feels aligned with her artistic values.
“It is refreshing to see an organisation like RADA use music not just as entertainment, but as a tool for healing, awareness and inspiration,” she shares. “RADA shows a genuine commitment to addressing social issues while creating meaningful platforms for artists.”
Raised on a farm in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, iSandi’s music is deeply shaped by her early environment — wide landscapes, close family ties, and a childhood filled with storytelling. Raised by her aunt on a steady diet of folklore and fairytales, narrative became central to her creative voice.
That storytelling instinct carries through her sound today. Blending Afro-experimental textures with Western harmonic structures, iSandi creates music that feels both grounded and expansive — compositions that invite reflection while fostering cross-cultural connection.
“Joina” is a natural extension of that approach. It doesn’t just present an idea; it creates a space for listeners to sit with it.
“I believe in purpose, responsibility and compassion,” iSandi explains. “Music carries moral weight — it can heal, harm, unite or divide. That belief guides how and why I create.”
The track also features on RADA Unearthed Volume 3, a compilation showcasing South African artists exploring themes of inspiration, awareness, and social change. Within that broader body of work, “Joina” stands as a moment of clarity — a reminder that unity begins with attention, and that healing often starts in shared understanding.
Since her debut EP Intyatyambo in 2022, iSandi has continued to build a body of work rooted in growth and humanity. From sharing stages with artists like The Muffinz and Vusi Mahlasela to collaborating on the collective track “Together We Are Stronger,” her trajectory reflects a commitment not just to music, but to meaning.
Beyond performance, she remains deeply engaged in education and composition — teaching music, creating for film and ambient spaces, and expanding her practice into new forms of storytelling.
With “Joina,” iSandi offers something both simple and expansive: a reminder that music, when created with intention, can become a bridge — between people, experiences, and the possibility of something better.
