Kawaii AF unleash their new single “Simply Hopeless”, a sugar-rushed burst of pop-punk adrenaline that dives headfirst into the chaos of catching feelings when you absolutely weren’t supposed to. Packed with infectious emo energy, bright riffs, and heartbreak wrapped in glitter, the track is a perfect snapshot of the band’s signature “candy-coated angst”.
Known for reviving the spirit of the 2000s with unapologetic flair, Kawaii AF blend glossy modern production with the melodrama and mischief of true MySpace-era nostalgia. Their world is one where heartbreak is sparkly, choruses explode like confetti, and even the saddest feelings are delivered with a wink, a scream, and a whole lot of eyeliner.
“Simply Hopeless” carries even more weight for the band than its upbeat punch suggests. Written more than a decade ago, the song finally comes to life after years of waiting for the right moment. “Simply Hopeless is about falling into infatuation in a situation that should have stayed casual”, the band shares.
The track was recorded at ZK Productions in Atlanta, a milestone the band had dreamed of since the beginning. Stepping into the studio with ZK marked the start of making their long-awaited album together — a full-circle moment bringing youthful emo dreams into their sharpest, loudest form yet.
With its energetic bounce, bright hooks, and feelings-spilling-over-the-edge urgency, “Simply Hopeless” is pure Kawaii AF: messy, honest, nostalgic, and irresistibly fun. Emo revival may be everywhere, but nobody’s doing it with this much sparkle.
Kawaii AF continue building momentum as they take their neon heartbreak anthems to the stage, including a performance at Ballads and Breakdowns Fest on February 7th, 2026 in San Antonio, TX.
