Lithuanian band THE ROOP returns with “Just Think About It”, the band’s new hypnotic and magnetic track interpolating between the surreal and the imaginary.
THE ROOP has had an exciting year. Just off the heels of their opening slot for Ed Sheeran’s stadium tour last year, “Just Think About It,” sees a return to a slightly deeper and darker sound. Longtime fans will recognise this sonic landscape, reminiscent of their hit “Discoteque.” And the result is this – soulful synth-pop layers that beckon you into the unknown, posing questions we often are afraid to confront ourselves.
“Just Think About It” was conceptualised in a recording studio in the woods, set up by the band themselves. Surrounded by nature and forests – most of the work on the song happened after late-night conversations and the loud silence away from the noise of the city.
On the single, the band shares, “The song raises questions about humanity — why do we need human touch? Why do we forget our dreams when we wake up in the morning? How can we remain human in this digitalised world? The music video was filmed in nighttime Berlin, Germany, where band members confront their fake, digitalised selves and try to escape from this artificial reality. What is real? Are we real? The video carries subtle influences from the films “The Matrix” and “Terminator.”
