EMERG go the distance on latest single “Star Song”: a manifesto for young dreamers & the next chapter of Canadian Rock

There’s a particular moment in every band’s journey where belief outweighs fear – when ambition burns brighter than doubt, but the weight of the great unknown is still felt. St Catharines rock four-piece EMERG commemorate that moment in their new single, “Star Song”. (LISTEN HERE)

Within “Star Song”, EMERG stands on the edge of something grand, staring out into its great expanse. With these feelings of uninhibited ambition, “Star Song” captures EMERG in motion, eyes lifted forwards, feet grounded in the work it takes to get there. It’s a song about wishing on stars, but also understanding that wishing alone isn’t enough.

On the single, the band shares, “‘Star Song’ is about our journey, embracing both optimism and the uncertainty of what the future holds. It reflects comfort found in dreaming big, setting bold ambitions, and ‘wishing on stars’.” They continue, “That sense of childhood manifestation fuels our drive to keep pushing forward. For us, it’s the motivation to do everything in our power to succeed in this industry, while inspiring others to believe in their dreams and reach for more.”

This tension between confidence and caution has defined EMERG’s steady rise. Despite all four members being under 20, the band has already carved an unconventional path through Canada’s alt-rock landscape. In under a year, EMERG independently recorded and released their debut album Anemoia – Vol II and its predecessor EP Anemoia – Vol I. With “Star Song”. EMERG deliberately flips the traditional release model to reflect their non-linear storytelling mindset.

“Star Song” evolved organically through live experimentation, jam sessions, and constant tweaking, shaped by what the song wanted to become rather than a predetermined outcome.

Alongside a full length album, an EP, and several singles, “Star Song” arrives at an apt time for the band personally. Serendipitously representing a pivotal moment in the band’s trajectory. 2026 sees a burgeoning mentorship with Steve Kirstein of The Glorious Sons, with collaborations to come later this year.

As EMERG steps into their sound, they emerge as one of Canada’s most exciting rising rock acts. In an era of digitalised music and pop-influenced sonics, EMERG carve out their own corner of the industry, one bringing back raw, distinct musicianship rooted in classic rock. “Star Song” stands as both a celebration of how far they’ve come as well as a quiet acknowledgement of how far they intend to reach.

For now, “Star Song” remains a snapshot of youth in motion: four musicians standing at the verge of the vast expanse of possibility, glowing with ambition, grounded by reality, and fully committed to the work in the journey ahead.
