Timothy LaRoque Channels Nostalgia & Modern Soul with New Record, The Florida Effect

Rising troubadour Timothy LaRoque unveils The Florida Effect, alongside lead single “Dreams”, a lush, jazz-inflected single carrying a timeless message about hope and perseverance while paying homage to the swing era.

The Florida Effect gives a glimpse into the life of the modern Floridian and the artist himself – exploring the experiences & feelings of having grown up in a place that has slowly become the breeding grounds and home for corruption in America.

Known for his lyricism and intimate live performances, LaRoque is an old soul in a modern scene — one whose music evokes the beauty, chaos, and contradictions of Florida life. “Dreams”, the record’s lead single, follows LaRoque’s signature of soulful lyricism and nostalgic soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from jazz greats such as Chet Baker and Duke Ellington, and standards like “I’m Beginning to See the Light” and “Dream a Little Dream of Me”, LaRoque recorded nearly every instrument on “Dreams” himself, with exception of drums (Justin Godbolt) and trumpet (Bradley Gagné).

On the single, LaRoque shares, “‘Dreams’ is about the importance of dreaming, how we need dreams to drive us, how a dream can take you a long way; I dream of peace for a peaceful world.”

LaRoque recently debuted “Dreams” at the House of Blues in New Orleans during back-to-back performances earlier this summer, followed by a headlining set at the Miami Beach Bandshell for the FilmGate Music Video Festival on September 25. “Dreams” was a fan-favourite at his listening party on September 26, and officially premiered on WLRN-FM on September 28.

The Florida Effect and “Dreams” signals a new chapter for LaRoque, one that fuses his classic influences with a forward-looking sensibility.
