A karaoke bar fills with chatter, a name is about to be called, and somewhere in the room a girl from another world is choosing a song.
That is where Rexxy’s ‘Could Be You’ begins…
Taken from ‘Futura’, the retro-futuristic concept album from Monica Velasquez, the track captures the moment Futura starts to feel something for Jace without knowing what it is. Melodic bass, seductive synths and layered, dreamy vocals carry that feeling of longing, with Velasquez writing each song to match a scene in the story. ‘Futura’ also comes with an original comic book, illustrated by her husband Darby Kaighin-Shields, so the story can be heard and read together.
‘Could Be You’ is out now, and has already been added to Spotify’s New Synthpop playlist.
