Jason Patel Returns with Tender New Single ‘Do It Again?’ Following Breakthrough Success in Netflix’s Unicorns

British R&B artist and actor Jason Patel steps into 2026 with “Do It Again?”, his first new single since the release of his debut EP Delicious, and a deeply personal love song shaped by the emotional themes of his critically acclaimed Netflix film Unicorns.

Known for his intimate songwriting and emotionally driven performances, Patel has built a reputation for music that lives at the intersection of vulnerability, identity, and storytelling. With “Do It Again?”, he delivers a slow-burning, bittersweet R&B ballad that feels tailor-made for the closing scene of a romantic film, tender, reflective, and quietly devastating. Sonically sitting between early Troye Sivan and Giveon, the track blends alt-R&B textures with soulful restraint and cinematic atmosphere.

Written and produced alongside JustAnt (credits include Steel Banglez) and Aurlyn (who has written with US artist Full Crate), the song was born during a cold, rain-soaked January in 2024. Huddled in a cosy studio over cups of tea, the trio found themselves discussing love stories like Love Actually and Bridget Jones films that romanticise imperfection, missed timing, and emotional risk. Those conversations sparked reflections on their own relationship histories and the lingering question: if given the choice, would you do it all again?

“I know we made mistakes, but if you asked me would I do it again? The answer is yes — I would do it all again,” Patel says.

That central line became the emotional anchor of the record. Built on soft, aching melodies and understated production, “Do It Again?” captures the quiet courage it takes to love, even when it doesn’t last. It’s a song for slow dances in the kitchen, for late-night text messages unsent, for anyone who understands that sometimes the heartbreak was worth the experience.

The release arrives at a pivotal moment in Patel’s career. He stars as the lead in Netflix’s Unicorns, a critically acclaimed cross-cultural romance that premiered at TIFF and BFI London Film Festival before its global release. His performance earned double BIFA Award nominations, multiple critics’ “Best Performers” mentions, and inclusion on Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow 2024 list. The seamless crossover between his screen and music work was cemented with his music also featuring in the film.

Patel’s debut EP, Delicious, introduced his understated, emotionally rich R&B sound and garnered support from Wonderland, Rollacoaster, Attitude Magazine, and ReVamp, alongside BBC Introducing and BBC Asian Network, where he was named Artist of the Week. PinkNews recognised him as a Trailblazing Artist of the Year, further highlighting his impact both culturally and creatively.

Beyond the studio and screen, Patel has performed at Manchester and London Pride, the Global South Asian Music Summit in NYC, and curated cultural showcases including Asian Tones at Dishoom and Mildreds. His growing list of achievements reflects an artist equally committed to craft and representation.

With “Do It Again?”, Jason Patel doesn’t just revisit love, he reframes it. It’s a reminder that even flawed romances can shape us, and sometimes the bravest thing we can say is: yes, I’d risk it all again.
