Ben Hazlewood’s ‘SPIRAL’ is an explosive anthem of healing & hope

Ben Hazlewood has never been one to shy away from bold resilience and fearless self-expression in his music – and his latest might just be his most personal yet. Hazlewood returns with “SPIRAL” this July 11th, an anthemic track charting the journey from darkness to light.

What makes this single especially moving is his fundraiser for The Trevor Project, raising awareness for mental health issues within the LGBTQ+ youth community.

With three records and several singles under his belt, Hazlewood has already received praise from the likes of CLASH, Billboard, Wonderland, and Harpers Bazaar, as well as being named MTV’s ‘The Freshmen’ winner. In light of these accomplishments, Hazlewood is about to embark on his newest chapter, beginning with “SPIRAL”.

“SPIRAL” was born from the creative collaboration between Austin Myles Grant, Lauren Little, and Hazlewood himself. Written and recorded in New York, Hazlewood draws from his own experiences of mental health, putting together a track complete with swirling synths, driving beats, and raw, emotive vocals. “SPIRAL” is the culmination of resilience, optimism and self-acceptance, showcasing Hazlewood’s signature style of autobiographical songwriting. On the creative process, he shares, “I wanted something that captured a lot of angst but still held beauty, something extremely powerful and anthemic.”

Healing is not linear, but cyclical and always in motion. Alongside the track, Hazlewood is using his platform to champion conversation, visibility and care. In tandem with the release of “SPIRAL” and Pride Month, Hazlewood will be fundraising for The Trevor Project, a cause close to the singer’s heart. He shares, Pride Belongs Here is a powerful reminder that LGBTQ+ youth and allies deserve to feel pride in who they are, wherever they live. Together, we can send a clear message: You are not alone. I’m looking to make a real impact — and I would love your support. Whether you donate $5 or $500, every bit helps. Your gift will provide suicide prevention and crisis intervention services, and help fund The Trevor Project’s mission to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people.”

On the track, Hazlewood shares, “From the depths of struggle emerges “Spiral,” a testament to tenacity and resilience. After years of battling mental health challenges, music became my truest lifeline. At my lowest, I was caught in a spiral of self-destruction, heading toward rock bottom “scanned for exits I won’t walk through.” But I began to find the strength to face my trauma and do the work to turn my life “180 from a spiral.” Healing isn’t linear; it’s messy and hard. But like wildflowers growing through the harshest of elements, I’ve learned that I can thrive. “Spiral” is an intimate yet anthemic reflection of a fight born from the lowest lows, yet soaring with the empowerment of reclaiming life and strength.”

Ben Hazlewood is a firebrand vocalist and fearless storyteller turning personal trauma into anthemic, soul-stirring pop. Rooted in raw emotion and cinematic power, Ben’s music lives where vulnerability meets rebellion: a bold voice for those navigating pain, healing, and self-liberation. An openly queer artist with a powerhouse voice and a deep commitment to truth-telling, Ben blends the grandeur of rock with the pulse of pop and the introspection of alt-soul. His work is autobiographical and unflinching, fronting identity, heartbreak, and resilience not for spectacle, but survival. Whether delivering soaring ballads or pulsing remixes, Ben commands attention with honesty, style, and a refusal to be boxed in. He’s not chasing trends, he’s building a movement: for the misfits, the dreamers, the broken, and the rising.
