Curfew Announce Debut Album Black Doll’s Eyes With New Lead Single “Flaketown”

Rising Irish alternative hard-rock trio Curfew release their debut album Black Doll’s Eyes on 25 November. The North Dublin band – composed of Jj Smilez, Gavin Dunne, and Mick Caffrey – have built strong momentum across Ireland’s live and media circuits, earning support from RTÉ 2FM, Nialler9, Hot Press, GoldenPlec, Radio Nova, and more.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Shaun Cadogan at Temple Lane Studios, the upcoming LP showcases Curfew’s signature blend of cinematic rock, melodic intensity, and emotionally driven songwriting. The band will mark the release with a headline show at The Grand Social in Dublin on 23 December.

Ahead of the album, Curfew highlight the track “Flaketown,” a song that blends retro-leaning instrumentation with commentary on contemporary digital life. The track examines the disconnect that comes with constant online distraction, capturing the tension between maintaining real-world relationships and the pull of technology. Key lines such as “Swipe it down, then forget I ever saw it / though I love you, I forget to tell you” underline its theme of emotional drift.

Within the album, “Flaketown” acts as a contrasting moment, exploring absence, detachment, and the difficulty of prioritising human connection in a tech-driven world. Its reflective tone complements the broader themes of personal growth and emotional complexity that define Black Doll’s Eyes.

Curfew have become known for their dynamic live performances, previously playing shows at Whelan’s, The Grand Social, Sin É, Anseo, Bello Bar, The Sound House, and The Workman’s Club. Their upcoming headline show marks a milestone for the fast-rising trio.

Black Doll’s Eyes is out 25 November. Tickets for the 23 December Grand Social show are on sale now.
