Trinidad & Tobago-born singer-songwriter Katiuska McLean introduces her new artistic identity, LoveLight, with “I Care”, an uplifting dance-pop single that turns a simple act of compassion into something powerful. Moving from vulnerability into strength through cinematic production, an emotive vocal performance and an anthemic message, the track arrives with a clear philosophy at its heart: “Caring is a Superpower”.
For Katiuska, that message is deeply personal. Music became a refuge during a childhood shaped by the absence of her father, distance from her mother, and a longing for the love and connection she felt were missing. After eventually moving from Trinidad & Tobago to Austria, she continued developing her voice and her career, going on to appear on major television stages including The Voice of Germany and Supertalent.
Now, through LoveLight, Katiuska is transforming those experiences into something she can share with others. The project represents the love, hope, strength and human connection she once searched for herself, with “I Care” serving as the introduction to that purpose.
“I Care” began with emotion rather than a formula. Katiuska followed the feeling and allowed the melody and lyrics to develop naturally, building a song around the feeling of standing beside someone through their mistakes, loving them without judgment and reminding them that they are not alone. What started as a personal feeling grew into a broader message about the power of compassion.
“I Care” is about being there for someone, not because they are perfect, but because you care. It’s about compassion, hope and human connection, especially in a world where we sometimes forget to really see each other. For me, caring is not a weakness. Caring is a superpower.
Musically, “I Care” combines contemporary dance-pop energy with a cinematic sense of scale. Its emotional journey mirrors the message at its core, beginning from a place of vulnerability before opening into something hopeful, empowering and full of light. Katiuska’s powerful voice remains central throughout, giving the song both intimacy and an unmistakably anthemic quality.
The cinematic character of the release extends into its official music video, which treats the song as a piece of visual storytelling rather than simply a performance piece. Together, the music and visuals establish the expansive world of LoveLight.
The LoveLight identity is equally important to Katiuska’s vision. She describes it as a reminder that people already carry love and light within themselves, and that caring for others can be a source of strength rather than vulnerability.
Her own life outside music reflects that philosophy. Katiuska places enormous value on family, friendship, humanitarian causes, animal welfare, meditation, gratitude and meaningful connection. She is fascinated by stories of protection, healing and love, particularly through superhero, fantasy, supernatural and romantic films. She has also had a lifelong love of film and soundtracks, and has always dreamed of one of her own songs becoming part of a film. From childhood, singing, writing songs and acting out scenes were all part of the same creative world for her. That connection between music, performance and storytelling continues today, both on stage and in front of the camera. Her Caribbean roots also remain an important part of her identity, with music and dancing woven naturally into her life.
“I Care” follows Katiuska’s return to releasing music, continuing a journey that restarted in 2025 with “Summer Shine”, followed by “Loving Home” and “Do Anything”. While those releases marked the beginning of a new chapter, “I Care” represents a more focused artistic statement and the launch of a wider creative vision.
At its heart, LoveLight is about taking what was once missing and turning it into something positive that can be given to others. With “I Care”, Katiuska McLean puts that philosophy into music, transforming a deeply human message into a song designed to uplift, connect and remind listeners of the strength that can be found in simply being there for one another.
