Writer’s block is its own kind of fog. For John Condit, the Nashville guitarist and songwriter behind new project The Comedown, the period following his 2024 solo album Return to the Center brought exactly that. “Shooting Star,” the project’s debut single, is what came out the other side.
It’s a slow burner. Recorded live to analog tape, it takes its time getting where it’s going, which turns out to be somewhere enormous. Condit has described it as being about cutting through the mental and emotional weight that holds people down, and the music earns that ambition.
For a debut single, it’s a confident statement. Out now.
