While country music continues to dominate globally, few artists in the UK have made the genre their own authentically. Singer-songwriter Marta is changing that. Blending the emotional storytelling of country music with polished pop production and cinematic visuals, the London-based artist is steadily building her place as one of the emerging voices helping shape a new era of UK country-pop.
On her latest release, “In Another Life”, Marta leans into nostalgia, heartbreak, and emotional resilience. Exploring the lingering feeling of “the one that got away,” the track is rooted in honest songwriting and sweeping melodies, capturing the universal experience of wondering how life might have unfolded differently if love had taken another path.
The song began with a single lyric: “you were the love of my life in another life.” On the single, she shares, “It started with that line and just flowed from there. I think it was written in only twenty or thirty minutes because it came from a very real feeling and memory that came up in conversation with the co-writer.”
“For me, the song is about those moments where you wonder ‘what if?’ What if you stayed with someone? What if you made different choices? But it’s also about realizing that sometimes the person you thought was perfect for you wasn’t actually meant for you. It became a very cathartic song for me–about healing, becoming stronger, and not waiting for someone else to come and save you.”
But despite her growing international audience, Marta’s artistry remains deeply tied to her experience living and creating in the UK, a space where country music is still finding its footing within the mainstream. Rather than replicating the traditional Nashville blueprint, Marta brings a distinctly modern and international perspective to the genre, balancing country vulnerability with contemporary pop sensibilities.
Known for pairing emotionally vulnerable storytelling with visually rich worlds, Marta has already made a significant impact internationally. Her debut country-pop single “All About Us” reached #1 in Germany and #4 in Norway on the Google Play Country Music charts during its first week of release, while the accompanying music video has surpassed 3 million views on YouTube. Follow-up single “I Need A Love Story” premiered exclusively on Taste of Country and remained at #1 on their “Best Music Video of the Week” chart for over a month, accumulating more than 2 million views.
With over 200k followers across social media, performances at CMA Fest in Nashville, and song placements in globally successful games including Piano Tiles 2 and Dancing Line — which together hold over 1 billion downloads — Marta continues building momentum ahead of her upcoming EP and next single release this June.
As UK audiences increasingly embrace country music, Marta is positioning herself at the forefront of its next chapter: proving that country storytelling can resonate far beyond its traditional borders.
