Queer singer, songwriter, and producer vincethealien returns with “FORGIVENESS”, a reflective, cinematic alternative pop release that traces nearly a decade of emotional processing, growth, and self-reconciliation.
Built around a slow-burning, cinematic atmosphere, the track sits in the space between tension and release, pairing vulnerable vocals with layered instrumentation that moves between intimacy and scale.
“FORGIVENESS” is one of the oldest songs in vincethealien’s catalogue, first written in 2016 while processing his experience growing up as a queer teenager navigating shame, rejection, and identity. At the time, the writing came from a place of emotional weight and confusion. Revisiting it nearly a decade later reframed the song entirely, turning it into a dialogue between past and present selves shaped by distance, growth, and changed perspective.
He reflects on that journey:
“I first began writing this in 2016 while trying to process shame, rejection, and fear around my identity,” he explains. “Back then, forgiveness felt very far away. When I came back to it years later, I realized how much had shifted. There had been healing in my life, especially within my family, and the shame I once carried didn’t define me in the same way anymore.”
Forgiveness also surfaced in new contexts over time, extending beyond the past into present relationships and self-reflection.
“I started thinking about forgiveness in friendships, relationships, and even toward myself”, he says. “It’s not simple, and it doesn’t always come with closure.”
The final version was shaped in collaboration with French producer MOTTRON, following their previous work together on “TENDERNESS”. What began as a stripped-back demo from 2016 was reimagined in 2026 into a more expansive, cinematic production. The arrangement leans into layered instrumentation and atmospheric space, reflecting the song’s central idea: that healing is rarely linear, and understanding often exists without full resolution.
At its core, “FORGIVENESS” explores what it means to move forward without erasing the past — whether that means rebuilding, setting boundaries, or learning to let go.
“Forgiveness, for me, is not a single moment”, the artist adds. “It’s something I’ve had to learn and relearn over time.”
