Described by NOTION as “a rising star”, artist, music producer, filmmaker, and researcher LAMIA returns with her most ambitious release to date: ‘Requiem For A Dream’. A self-produced single accompanied by LAMIA’s directorial debut music video shot in Hong Kong, ‘Requiem For A Dream’ is a stunning debut of her forthcoming visual album, ‘Nighthawks’. Immersing audiences in a colour-saturated, neon-lit audiovisual world with fractured club rhythms, post-trance atmospherics, and cinematic storytelling, this audiovisual project establishes LAMIA as one of the most compelling interdisciplinary artistic voices emerging from London and Berlin’s underground electronic scenes.
‘Requiem For A Dream’ is a triumph in the harmony of musicianship and filmmaking. The track was written, recorded, and produced by LAMIA, whilst she also directed, acted, and edited the music video. Set within the neon-lit streets of Hong Kong, the video follows LAMIA, playing herself and a character, a heartbroken protagonist who wanders through a liminal nightworld, where her night wandering makes her realise that she must let go of the past. LAMIA is artistically driven to explore life’s complex experiences, such as urban dreams of self-actualisation, loneliness, and psychological fragmentation. She creates audiovisual worlds where the intimacy of the music and cinematic storytelling intertwine, where, through seeing LAMIA and her work, audiences can see themselves.
“I am excited about The Requiem For A Dream audiovisual project. It is my self-produced music and solo directorial debut,” explains LAMIA…”It is a project that examines life’s complex experiences, such as tensions between urban dreams of self-actualisation, illusion, and psychological fragmentation. Against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s metropolis, the video uses metaphors such as neon lights to signify LAMIA’s character as an outsider, relationship illusions, and the fragility between reality and imagination. I am deeply proud of this project. The conceptual exploration through music and video combined is my best work as an artist so far.”
Praised by DMY Magazine for continuing to “redefine what electronic music can be: visceral, intellectual, and transcendent,” LAMIA graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London, with Distinction in Master’s of Music supported by multiple scholarships, and is an alumnus of Leeds Conservatoire and The BRIT School. She is currently studying for a second Master’s degree in Film. LAMIA’s work is shaped by a rare form of synesthesia, in which she experiences sounds and vivid cinematic imagery simultaneously, which inspired her to expand into filmmaking.
LAMIA’s unique artistic approach has earned support from BBC Radio 1’s Jaguar, BBC Introducing, CLASH, NOTION, DMY, KALTBLUT, CULTR and Radio X, while her award-winning audiovisual projects have screened at The Berlin Music Video Awards for three consecutive years and won many acalades, including ‘Best Music Video’ at the Berlin Indie Film Festival and being scouted for the prestigious Tokyo International Short Film Festival. Beyond recorded releases, LAMIA has performed at Berghain Kantine, DIM Warehouse, BBC Introducing Live Sessions, where she was hailed as “one of the best live performers we have ever had” by BBC Introducing’s Alan Raw, and has presented artist research at CTM Festival and Most:Wanted Berlin.
A private screening and Q&A of Requiem For A Dream will take place at Funkhaus Berlin in July 2026, offering audiences an exclusive first look at the visual world that will unfold across the forthcoming Nighthawks project. With ‘Requiem For A Dream’, LAMIA invites audiences into a haunting, emotionally charged world where memory and imagination collide, a dreamscape as beautiful as it is unsettling.
